We really love coming here ourselves with our children. The region around Sankt Lambrecht is beautiful, peaceful, and authentic. You stay in the heart of nature, surrounded by green mountains, alpine meadows, and fresh mountain air, but at the same time, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and explore.

The village itself, with shops and restaurants, is within walking distance. What strikes us every time is how friendly the locals are: people greet each other on the street. That immediately creates a warm and relaxed holiday feeling – exactly what you are looking for with young children.

Plenty of swimming fun

On hot summer days, cooling down is never far away. In and around Sankt There are many nice places to swim in Lambrecht.

• Outdoor swimming pool in Sankt Lambrecht himself, at the foot of the castle, with a magnificent view of the mountains.
• Outdoor swimming pools in Neumarkt, Murau and Oberwölz.
• In rainy weather, the indoor pool in Murau is highly recommended (reopening early 2027).
• Natural swimming lakes such as Weyrerteich, Poloderteich, Auerlingsee, Furtner Teich, Grasluppteich and Mühlner Badesee.
• Wassererlebnispark Gesäuse, a bit of a drive, but really fun.

Perfect for children: well-organized, clean, and often with sunbathing areas and playgrounds.

Mountain lifts & fun on top of the mountain

The mountains here are also easily accessible for young children. The cable cars take you to the top in no time, where there is plenty to do besides hiking.

• Sankt Lambrecht – ideal with children, short walks, a nature adventure trail, and new playground equipment with a long slide.
• Kreischberg – with Dinowald, DiscGolf, go-karts and a fun playground.
• Lachtal – nature, animals, play and adventure trails or the Eselsberger Almerlebnisweg.
• Turracher Höhe – summer toboggan run, mountain lakes, play trails and beautiful panoramas.
• With the Steiermark With the Card, all these mountain lifts are free.

Playing, learning & discovering

Even on days when you want to do something other than walking or swimming, there is plenty to do.

• The Wood Museum in Murau – surprisingly fun for small children, with a nice playground.
• fairy forest Steiermark – a fairytale family park.
• Playworld Spielberg – the largest indoor amusement park in Austria (approximately a 45-minute drive).
• Red Bull Ring – with kids' go-karting, bobby cars, and play activities.
• Minigolf – always a hit with the whole family.

Children love animals, and you will come across plenty of them here.

• Tour of the ostrich farm in Sankt Blisters.
• Alpaca farm near Murau.
• Scheifling Zoo.

• Günster Waterfall – the highest waterfall of Steiermark, manageable with small children. You mainly walk up and down stairs, so it is not suitable for strollers. Roaring!
